Google Discover is a personalized news and information platform that displays relevant content based on your interests. However, not all suggested topics are always a good fit. We will show you how to configure Google Discover and customize your feed individually.
Configuring Google Discover: It's That Simple
If you are not satisfied with the suggested content, you can personalize your Google Discover feed. We will show you how this works step by step.
Activate Discover to Receive Personalized Content
To receive personalized content, you first need to activate Google Discover on your mobile device. Here's how it works:
- Open the Google or Google Chrome app
Google App:
- Tap your profile picture or initial in the top right corner.
- Select "Search personalization".
- Activate the switch next to "Personalize Search".
- Select "Settings".
- Activate the switch next to "Discover".
Google Chrome App:
- Tap "More" (three dots) in the bottom right corner.
- Select "Settings".
- Activate the switch next to "Discover".
Add Interests
To better tailor Google Discover to your preferences, you can specifically add interests to ensure that only relevant content is displayed to you. If you like posts in your feed, you can simply like them using the heart icon. This signals your interest and further personalizes your Google Discover feed. You also have the option to save interesting content using the bookmark icon. To do this, tap the three vertical dots (⋮) below the post and then select "Save" or "Add to reading list". You can view your saved posts by tapping on your profile picture or initial and then on "Saved interests and collections".
Remove Interests
Sometimes, content that you are not interested in appears in your feed. To hide these unwanted articles or topics, you can customize Google Discover:
- Tap the three vertical dots (⋮) below the post you do not like.
- Select the option "Not interested" or "Hide story" if you do not like the specific post and do not want to see similar content in the future.
- Select the option "Not interested in a topic" if certain topics do not match your interests. To do this, tap the adjacent arrow (>) and select the topics you are not interested in. Then confirm your selection with the "Done" button.
- Select the option "Don't show stories from [Source]" to hide content from this specific source completely. This way, you can ensure that only content that truly matches your interests is displayed.
